Ever since her runway debut at New York Fashion Week in 2017, Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber has been a force to be reckoned with in the modeling industry, appearing in campaigns and walking the runway for some of the biggest names in fashion.

For her burlesque-themed 18th birthday bash in New York City on Friday, September 6th, Gerber no doubt had her choice of brand-new designer duds to ring in her big day—especially since she has modeled for fashion houses like Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Alexander Wang, Coach, Prada, Chanel, Fendi, Moschino, Calvin Klein, and more. But instead, she paid homage to one of her mom’s most iconic looks ever, reminding us just how much they look alike.

Gerber wore a super hot leather look by Versace, which was a near-carbon copy of Crawford’s look at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards, nine years before she was even born.

The young model’s custom Versace design features tons of black lace and leather, as well as gold studs, so it’s definitely not your average birthday look—which is what we love most about it.

Here are a few throwback pics of Crawford at the 1992 awards show, looking the epitome of ’90s goth glam.

And here is Gerber in her 2019 take, rocking the heck out of this lace and leather corset dress. Those boots alone…we can’t deal.

It seems like Gerber had a blast at her bash. She later thanked those who attended in an Instagram post after the party.

In case you were wondering what her mama wore to the party, well, she slayed in a Cleopatra-meets-Cher-inspired gold metallic pantsuit with the most incredible bedazzled wig we’ve ever seen.

Here’s hoping that Kaia had a magical time at her party. And now she has the perfect casual outfit to wear to the grocery store or when hanging on the couch with her friends, right?
